my Grandfather received this from working 25 years at the General Motors plant in Linden Nj. on the back it says 1937 to 1962
it has 23 jeweles. its an Lord Elgin watch any info on the value if any would be appreciated. thanks Patty
Patty this is another bgreat time piece. 23 jewel watches are top of the line, but like every mechanical watch it will need serviced from time to time. As far as value goes, it wouldn't surprise me to see this watch sell for upwards of $300. And another thought you might look the watch over really close, GM had a policy of giving out solid gold things, pins for service and watches for retirement, It might be. Then the value skyrockets. Again GREAT timepiece, hope I gave you a little insight
HiKerry
thank you so much! I was wondering if this may be gold, it looks like it. I guess I should take it to a jeweler and see what they tell me right? thanks again
If you've never been around watches much, I'd say yes, but stand right there while they look at the inside of casing. You can look around the lugs where the band fits on , some watches will be hallmarked there.
Patty look on ebay at this watch as a thought
