Again this specimen was taken up in hokkaido Japan in a very High gold content stream 24k small nuggets found in this stream. Picture in the book shows silver flake with yellow splash of thin gold among this very small flake that is iridosamine & there would appear to be some kind of chemical attraction to Gold.
Whats really interesting I think, is this Gold attraction to the Platinum Group & how the specimens in the high gold content creeks or streams all appear to have a chocolate brown colour ........& the specimens we found in High Platinum content streams many Kilometers away, are black coloured rocks all with these small metallic flakes in them or varying size.
Any one with serious knowledge of these mineral specimens that is kind enough to share ; would be greatly appreciated.
Finding these specimens was incredibly difficult as the streams I was searching in were Freezing and snow was still on the ground, dressed in full length waders & reaching by hand into the waters to retrieve specimens.
Very narrow window of opportunity to collect these minerals as when its overcast you can't see them in the water , & from June the stones on the stream beds become covered in nutrients from the dairy farm run off and you can't see what kinds of rocks are in the streams....
One would expect to see these kinds of minerals along the sides of the streams, however very very few could be located there at all & again could not be seen with any cloud cover, they just don't shine.
Back breaking work, but some very Spectacular Agate finds sometimes.
Big Brown Bears from the 3rd week of June also make for nervous prospecting with waders on Head down and ......... Up !.
Not to mention the onset of Huge Mosquitos about the same time like Apache attack helicopters they were, as well as some pockets of Nasty sickening Swamp gas coming up through the stream beds that were 5-6 meters deep in places so the gas stayed in location.
