Help...trying to identify who the manufacture was on these items. These were my grandmothers. In the pitcher there was a note that said it was her grandmothers. My grandmother was born in 1918...so that would seem to make them possibly 150 years old. The juice glasses are so thin...it makes you think initially that they are plastic. They are very delicate. If anyone knows what these are exactly...I would sure appreciate your help. Thanks Kevin
Kevin, This type of "light cutting' as it was called came about around 1910. It was very popular into the 'teens and 1920s. Many factories at the time made this ware, and the star motif was one of the most common and popular, so it would be quite difficult to find the manufacturer. When this is the case, we go by the shapes of the blanks, but again, companies copied each other. The only thing distinctive that may point towards a certain factory is the handle on the pitcher. It does appear to be applied, but it is much longer than most of its kind. Fostoria made much of this type of light cut glassware in the teens and 1920s, and you might want to look into this.
Paul, Thanks so much for your information. The only reason I didn't think it was Fostoria was when my Grandmother said it was acquired...by her Grandmother...which would have put the time frame in the 188o's. I will do some more research into the Fostoria option. Thanks so much Kevin
I think with some searching you will find this. These definitely date from the 20th century. It's nice to have pieces handed down in the family
