Hi, have this old bottle for years is one bottle but has 4 sections to it each with own cork an claw like top .Label says Labb'e Francois Voiron year 1830 find it years ago in an old house we bought. Was just wondering if you could tell me how old it is an little history on it an is it of any value. Thank You Wendy

I remember seeing them in Italian bars into the 1970's.
Filled with different coloured liqueurs it will look amazing!
I've read that they were founded in 1830. Voiron is about 25 kilometres away from the Chartreuse where the monks made the famous liqueur. Only two monks knew the recipe etc. It seems that someone called François Labbé set up a distillery doing a similar liqueur. I have been unable to find anything at all about this "Frank the Abbot". The name may have been made up, although there is a document written in French about a guy meeting Frank's son during World War I. http://www.hennezel.net/voyages/stemenehould.htm
They were a generic form of bottle that was produced for the company. They made a great variety of liqueurs and I am getting mixed messages as to whether the brand is still available in France. You'll find a couple of them on the net for sale. Just be careful about the spelling of the name:
François Labbé or François L'abbé
Labbé François or L'abbé François
I've always found these bottles fascinating.
I'd be happy to know if anyone knows who did in fact manufacture them.
