Antique Edo period 1600 - 1868 Japanese Samurai Saki cups made from the famous Bizen Yaki ; the older one Dates from 1600 & the Later period one you can see in very Rare minty condition is about 1850.
The earlier Saki cup would have been from the opening of the Samurai Castle on completion of construction which dates to 1524 & it is a very rare find compliments of last years Monster typhoon in November that caused Landslides exposing these two artifacts that slipped some 750 meters down a mountain across a road onto a beach.
Being in the right place at the right time is the key to preserving such artifacts as Heavy Machinery was in use all around cleaning up the Beach , me as I scrambled to save these pieces.
Anyone with Knowledge of Ancient, " Bizen pottery" , that would like to share their thoughts would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

Today archeologists in Japan verify the Dates of these rare Samurai Saki cups at 15th -16th Century. Two different styles of the saki cups from two different regions , the grey coloured cup is ' Haji " ware & the orange cup is Bizen Ware. I was told the Bizen ware cup is a ' Master Piece ' & the skills of the maker are for this period extraordinary. When I enquired of the value for the Bizen ware I was advised $7,500 -$10,000 dollars. The Haji ware value $2,500 -$3,500 . These are both rare museum quality pieces & the $ values reflect what a museum would expect to pay for each of them.
