Rare book by Frederick A. Barber. First ond ONLY addition, this 111 page book shows REAL period grahpic photos of WWI. From Dead US, British, French & German soldiers, Civilians, and the hundreds of horses and animals that were killed. Most of these photos are markes US Signal Corps, and some are foreign. Over all, an unusual book that is not in many collections.
I can't even remember how long ago I found out about this book, but it was at a Military show, and it had a price tag of $350.00. I remember searching Ebay for it, and after years of hunting, I found it CHEAP.

Historical value ...some. A deterrent to war ...maybe.

Most people in this country, nowadays, lack the experience to put these images into context and for the ones that do have the "experience" it's too damned late.
It's really hard to "tell" someone so they feel it too, it's like telling an 18 year old to "be careful."
I have been lucky so I am only guessing that for most of us, who have not experienced it first hand, images like these are a source of macabre fascination but to those who have they are just plain macabre.

That said, I would be the first to pick that book up at a garage sale. Today is Memorial Day.

I first saw this book when I was a lot younger. My dad was a pacifist and probably bought this book new. I have had it packed away since about 1992; I think it is time to find it...
