I cannot find any labels on the chairs and I only know they have been around our retreat house since it opened in 1960.

Any similar chairs I have found online do not have the hand-hole. And the ones I do find are almost always labeled "Bentwood Thonet Chairs" and "Eames" in the title.

Ours are well built and have been cared for by Dominican Sisters for 50 years. Any information to their origins and manufacture would be greatly appreciated!!!

It is definitely not Eames. Ebay uses the name "Eames" for anything that appears to be mid-century modern. Yours are not Eames chairs.

I have the same chairs, however there is a wood burned/stamp that says "Thonet Originals"
I too have not found any chairs with the hand-hole until I saw these. There seems to be a lot of Thonet chairs with the solid back.
Does anyone have information on this version of the Thonet chair?

Hi I found two chairs this morning exactly as above but in yellow. One has the label affixed to the bottom
      Thonet New York
