Hello out there in cuckoo cyberspace! This clock has an animated cuckoo bird and with gongs on the hour(s) and half hour, then the second door a strange bug (weird looking bumblebee) comes out and one of two musicals plays for the hour or half hour.
Our grandmother who was an immigrant from Czechoslovakia forced out by German Nazis left behind her relatives who one of them shipped the cuckoo clock to her as a gift, although she thought it too large and had one already, so she gave it to my father as a gift in 1959 ~ 1961 sometime around there...
Now that my parents have recently both passed away the trust and will is being handled unfairly by the trustee who kept the clock as his saying it isn't worth all that much and is a conversation piece is all. I do not mind that myself but others do and blah blah blah.
I would like to know if anyone here knows anything about the clock pictured, and what it may be worth being in near mint condition and keeps perfect time and all things function perfectly as they always have.
Also I would like to know if anyone knows the titles to the different tunes used in cuckoo clocks (ours is not Edelweiss or The Happy Wanderer) --Any other suggestions?? Please let me know bthecreator@yahoo.com
It sure looks like a Black Forest Cuckoo clock...type cuckoo into the search engine on ebay, thousands will show.. quickly scroll through each page.. you may find it. I will do it also.. as it is fun for me. But I wondered how many inches your clock is. You will see many people measure them on ebay. Yours seems to be a very large one. If you cannot measure it exactly, because it is not in your possession.. go to the wall it was on if possible and imagine the whereabouts of the original, and do an approximate measurement. Hope to hear from you even if you cannot do anything at this point. Lets calm the restless ! Maybe they are right maybe not! Cindy
