Hello all!
I found this beautifull chest in a basement at a friends house. Unfortunately the hardware and hinges have been replaced and the back panel is partially missing. The first photo is the beautiful detail located on the front. (That is what caught my eye) The second is a stamp on the backside.( I couldn't find any other identifying marks or labels) The third is a frontal view including the clawed feet. (two front feet are clawed.) The final photo is the top surface. I don't know where to even begin to look for info about this piece of furniture. I don't think it's very old but really enjoy the detail on the front. It appears it may have had a mirror attached? (two holes on the top side, posterior) I believe it may have had wheels as well. I really love this and would love to know more! My friend didn't even know it was in her basement! She "Didn't want that old thing." Any info or suggestions would be great!
That is awesome!
I am not an expert here. I fell in love with oak back in the late 60's setting up my own home. I found a lot of oak pieces at yard sales for $20.00 to $40.00. We still have several of them in use yet today.
You item may be a sideboard. They would have a back mirror just a foot high or a few feet high and quite elaborate. With the detail you have I would guess the latter.
The draws pulls could be original but knobs are new for sure. I would guess early 1900's.
Beautiful piece, love the tiger oak and claw feet.
VERY NICE
