Pictured are some of the helmets I was able to obtain from U.S. Army and Marine veterans throughout the years. The pith helmet was the standard piece of headgear worn by the NVA and to a lesser extent, the North Vietnamese Navy. Navy helmets are very difficult to find. The navy used the standard army green helmet and painted it white. The navy also had their own insignia which differed from the army. A few of the helmets have the soldiers name written in pen, wheras in one of them the soldier took a pin and poked holes to spell out his name, as you will see in the last photo.
What an excellent collection, and VC/NVA gear is one of my favorite areas of militaria.
What do you call the nav helmet that has the blue background with red anchor and gold star? I have a pith with this logo on it. Thanks
You see repro badges like these on eBay described as Viet Cong Navy badges. If you Google Viet Cong cap badges (under Images) you might get more info. Good luck!
Ok thanks. I posted a pic up on this site.
Can you help me to find/ buy some Vietcong helmet or rubber sandals?
Thank you very much.
