I purchased this pitcher about 5 years ago and it sits on my hearth all the time. I don't know anything about it's value or where it came from but I just love it. I look at it and I can just imagine all that it has been through. I think this is called a "buttermilk pitcher". I bet many Grandmas usd this to make lots of biscuits & cornbread to feed their large families back then. Makes me hungry (wish I had been there).

Marshall Pottery is about 40 miles from my location. I don't know how long they have been in business, but I can tell you that they are still producing pottery today, and is still very popular. My husband and I visited the main store in Marshall last fall, and was amazed at the change we found. It had been about 8 or 9 years since we were there... but the staff assured us that the business was actually building back up in the last couple of years. That yes, there had been about 5 years that were terrible.... but they have seen it turn comletely around.... As far as your piece - hang on to it.... because I don't recall seeing many pieces decorated that much anymore. They used to have a large area where the public could watch the artists and even try it now and then - but that part is all gone.

      Dear Usefull,
I have a canister set that looks just like this pitcher. I purchased them at a Crackerbarrel in Southern Illinois in 1993. There was no marking on bottom but colors and patterns are the same. I love them. Hope this helps.
