Very Rare Meteorite from Japan that i detected on beach while searching for coins. Weight 40grms & you can see the Re entry crust lines on the meteorite clearly, obviously rust from being 1.5 ft under sand. I filed a corner off to expose the metal and am considering polishing ....?.

Anyone know the value of Meteorites from Japan? ; they are very rare here and few have ever been found.

    Many thanks

AR8Jason, I see the Advertisments in the side Bar on the web page & I have been doing business on the net for a very long time, its brought with Danger particularly from X'Spurts ..........who have come to realize quickly if you tell the Unwary jo average his Treasure is only worth a couple of $'s ........Then Buy it your self to do Jo average a Favor the X'Spurt can then sell whatever it was off for its True market value . Take for instance LLC auction companies on the Web like live auctioneers ; they do this and among those auctions are companies like Affiliated auctions ; Affiliated means connected with & they are connected by Bidding on Each others stock its schil biding and Worse as the auctions Register bidders prior so they know Exactly who is bidding on what auction ..........
It also lets Afffiliated auctions tell sellers Do not place a Reserve on the antique and it will attract more $$$$$$$$$$$ , then affiliated auctions buys it them selves with one of their staffs auction accounts for a few dollars and the owners are seriously Swindled & more often than not if they keep checking Live auctioneers they see their Treasure re sold from the $225 they got at its True Market value plus the fake schil bids placed by affiliated auctions & Oh My god look at that $12,500.00 .

Sotheby's was never charged with this behavior because they gave Evidence against Christie's auction in 1983 and the christie's CEO did 24 years in jail.
History repeats its self every day & after having been defrauded by a U.s.A auction of over $175,000 and the FBI couldn't care less as they described it as small change compared to other monies stolen on the web & I was told in the U.s.A on a daily basis more than 10,000 people are defrauded on the internet.

I have a meteorite, very heavy. Don't have any idea what it is or where it came from. More than likely, the mountains of N.C. Who do I contact to find out more?? It's iron or a mix of medals, big has a softball, (but, not the shape) very sharp on one side and 5 to 7 pounds. Color, like a light brassy copper, ground on corner and a small drill hole was already done before I received it, had it 24 year's. Thanks

Have the nickel content in a meteorite. It's core should be high in volume of nickel.A spectrometer should do the trick some larger salvage yards have these very expensive 20, to$ 40,000.00 gun. That will do the trick if you can have it analyzed that would provide the needed information.
