PopcornShop

Here is a machine I have just restored not to long ago.. This one is the Popcorn Shop version... Many are familiar with the u pop it and minit pop.. The Popcorn Shop is one that is maybe not as common even though parts are interchangable between the three... This one is the hotplate type...not the oil vat type.. I like the hotplate version.. While I have worked on both and also have an oil vat type the patents show the main reason for hotplate design was to help keep the machine more clean.. Oil vat seemed to produce more air born oil which would cover the inside of the machine.. But none the less many like the oil vat version just because they are easier to work on.. The hotplate version has a bit more relays and thermostates.. But either machine are still by far very reliable.. If you have a hotplate style make sure in your restoration you change all thermostates to new ones regaurdless.. You will be much happier if you do and the machine will function flawless.. The oil used in most of these type of machines has been coconut oil... I have tried others but it just seems the coconut oil gumes the machine up alot less.. Not to mention the shelf life of coconut oil is excellent.. If the smell of the popcorn does get your attention the operation of this machine def will... If you have any questions or comments or need help with a machine just let me know.. thanks... Brian... Keep Popin!

Hello, found for listing and your restore is awesome, I've got a friend who has one like yours, it's an oil style that needs some work. He and I have repaired lots of coin op and slots, I was wondering where do you get parts and is there a repair manual for these great machine? Thanks would like to see more of your pictures.
Andrew
I have a green/gold U-Pop-It that was stored for too many years outdoors so it needs a good paint job but the inside mechanism looks quite good.
Looking for someone in Southern California to do a restoration on it. Any suggestions?
