I have a somewhat newly-found fascination for this type of Czech glass, often referred to as "end of day" glass. The story goes that this type of glass was made by glass blowers with remnants at the end of the day, presumably to be given away to family and/or friends. This really makes no sense, and design books from companies such as Rueckl, Josephinenhuette, and others show that these were made quite intentionally, and though the colors appear haphazard, these were by design as well.
Now this particular piece turned out not to be exactly as expected - for one thing, the auction photos made it look positively yellow - as these photos show, the base glass is decidedly green. It it interesting to note what happens to the yellow shards under black light - they give a bright red glow.
There's a list here of colours:

Nice vase Ian. Interesting what you say about the yellow. I've just bought a damaged one, which looks the same shape as this & splattered but definitely looks a very yellow base colour. Unfortunately its damaged but I'll post it as soon as it arrives. Thanks for sharing.
Hi WARREN (not Ian:)
I wonder, do you think this vase is the same shape as yours here.
Yours looks a bit slimmer but apart from that the shapes are very similar.

Czechman also has one listed, where the shape looks identical.
Just curious:)
Thank you
Great link Vetraio! What a useful link. I've only just seen it. I'm fascinated by uranium glass and other colour changes seen under UV. Thank you
Here's Czechmans, i hope he doesn't mind, as I've not asked his permission to link to it, feel free to delete this after its posted. Its very similar to yours here, except it looks a bit fatter like mine. I just wondered, is yours slimmer do you think? Or just appears that way?

PS. Love the UV changes here. Can't wait to get mine and shine a torch on it:) I have a nice red & yellow Czech deco posy bowl in normal light but under UV the yellow turns to a vibrant orange and the reds to a dark purpley colour.
Hi Warren. I don't know if you've been following my yellow vase i have
