I saw one of these sell on Ebay for just under $400 this week. I have been looking at this one for months in one of my local Antique stores for $365 and marked down to $265. Monday I offered $175 for this one and settled for $200. It has a lot of scratches and bent up a little but the color and gloss is great and looks super on my wall. Enjoy
Nice !!! I like that one Ed!

that looks to be in pretty good shape. We have an Exide battery plant located near here in Bristol TN.
jamiedpt, I got busy and missed your comment, sorry. For being a sign from 1941 its hard to believe it looks this good, my guess is it was never outside.
Thanks for the offer but it will stay in my collection for years. How about a couple photo's from down under of your collection?

Thanks Trey for nice comment and a late thanks to chevy59
Wow, what a beautiful color combination, you said 1941, is there a maker's name? I think you got your money's worth. I like the fact that it's embossed, the next thing you know, please reproducers will get the Chinese to start making embossed signs! It's bad enough, that there peddling all those porcelain gas and oil reproduction signs on eBay. And they're pretty clever about how they do it, usually saying something to the effect of"I bought it from a 90-year-old man a couple years ago and don't know anything about it", or something to that effect. With the prices of porcelain and vintage tin signs these days, it's enough to make you go all Charlie Manson or something!
Thanks mikielikesigns2 glad you love it and nice compliment, the label on the sign says AM-5-41 and also Form 1485 or something like that. I hear what your saying about repro's and ebay. Dont you love it when they say "the person I'm selling this for said....."
Another one I've seen quite often is when they say"in the style of", or the honest ones will say "vintage reproduction", what the hell does vintage reproduction mean? Usually when I'm trolling the gas and oil sign category, the first thing I do is to click on the "used"option, which usually cuts the category and half but even then it seems like every fourth or fifth add to have a repro. So I guess that once you buy a reproduction sign then turn around and sell it now it's considered used! One more thing, in that category, count how many times the ad will start with the word vintage, which usually after questioning the seller, means they don't know anything about the item they're selling. I got so upset about that, that I stated in my ad, that if anyone caught me using the word vintage, I would give them that item!
Thanks chrissylovescats and kingshawn, glad you love this!
