My pristine 1967 Marshall Super P.A. 100 watt "plexi". Tolex is new, handle, front beading and rear panel & tolex are original. The plexi panels are in mint condition, no holes or cracks, original transformers, everything is original except recent pro cap job ( I still have the original caps) and 1 EL34 socket. Very rare and very interesting amp. I got it for $1,000 form Craig's List. No mods (except a SLP mod that Skip Simmons did to the 1st channel), this amp is CLEAN. It sounds like Jimi Hendrix when pushed passed 6. I was browsing Craigs list and saw an ad that read: "1967 Marshall $1,000" and the phone number, that was it. I called the phone number on the ad and the guy said it was an old block letter Marshall which got me excited to check out. I was at work so I couldn't make it out to check it out and he was going to bed when I called so I couldn't go after work. He invited me and a few other people over to his house at 2pm the next day and whoever got there 1st with cash in hand, got the amp. I had an important high profile job going on for our company so it was difficult to get out at 1pm. I made up a B.S. excuse that I had to leave at 1pm but I would be back at 3pm to make up my time, everyone went for that. He lived in a very confusing old neighborhood, luckily I was the 1st one there. The owner met me outside and thought I was another buyer but he said the 1st one there, got it. He brought me in his house and I thought I was on an episode of "Hoarders"! He had to push the door in as hard as he could to move the crap behind the door, and there it was. It was crudely re-tolexed to look like a Fender with Marshall written with small address letters (the type that you find in hardware stores), that was the "block logo". When I walked into his house there were mountains of garbage and cheap guitar stuff all over the place, it was amazing!. He told me that the Marshall was at a hotel for years being used by a country band in their lounge/bar that he played in. It was all original except for the bad tolex and 1 filter cap. I forked over the money and ran out of there before anyone else showed up. As I was leaving, someone pulled into the driveway and screamed, "did you buy it? " I nodded yes and he started yelling profanities (not at me) . I quickly put the amp in my truck, he wanted to see it and I just said, "Sorry, gotta go". He looked like an a-hole so I drove off while he was talking to me. I didn't go back to work, instead I went to a friend's studio and fired it up. Skip Simmons (www.skipsimmonsamps.com/) thought that this was brought over from the U.K. here by a band and not sold here. I tore off the crude Fender tolex job and recovered with re-issue Marshall tolex from Antique Electric Supply. I reused as many parts as I could and left the rear panel stock (it was not recovered). This thing sounds amazing!!
