A while back I acquired an old medicine cabinet that was still stocked with vintage items. I would like to share part of what was in the cabinet.
L to R:
1. Rexall Orderlies, " A new product which has been proven by actual test to be one of the best laxatives and cathartics known to medical science".
2. Cirtoid Compound, A new exclusive compound of Citrus Bioflavoniods.
3. Aerohalor, Abbots Powder Inhaler, still full.
4. D. J. H. McLeans Volcanic Oil Liniment, active ingredients: Chlorothymol, Pure Gum Spirits, Turpentine, Oil Flaxseed, Petroleum, Oil Hemlock, Oil Of Pine, Oil Camphor Sassafrassy.
5. Skelaxin, Acute Skeletal Muscle Relaxant, Professional Sample, three left.
6. Penicillin G Potassium for Inhalation Therapy, 100,000 units per cartridge, Abbots Sifter Cartridge, dated March, 1956.
Just some fun stuff,
enjoy

Wen I lived in France, we lived downstairs from an elderly gent we watched over. I had the flu one day when I had to go to work, so he reached in his cabinet and gave me two flu pills. As I walked over the 12th century bridge to work I fely better and better, loopier and loopier, and when I got to work rhe owner said, "What's going on?What did you take", I answered flu medicine. After I had slept it off and went home I read the box, it was Methyl-Qualine...AKA Qualudes, (Now illegal in the US as they were "too much fun"). Gotta love the French, they REALLY don't like to suffer. The box was very old, "pour la grippe"(for the flu) and they had stopped making it, I think, but your cabinet reminded me of that crazy story!! Sorry to carry on packrat, I love your stuff!! Michelle
That's right 714's, and that was the badge number of the hero of Dragnet, every show, his badge would pop up and we'd giggle. I was fortunately deep in the cuntryside for the eighties, thus was far from the cocaine/qualudes and disco...probably a blessing. I was doing the field work you showed your family members doing, rather than drugs, though we would smoke Hashish if it ever came to the village of 250, and I lived above that in a hamlet of 15. Far from the Madding Crowd. I had a friend who had buried some after they became illegal, and apart the "Flu" medicine, that was my only dabbling, but boy, did we raise hell, what a night on the town, yikes, it's lucky they didn't send us straight to jail!! I was born in '61, and though my Mom was definitely counter-culture, she did a lot of qualudes, but I came at the tail end where they had been illegalized by the time I was looking to rebel!! Nice to know your "hip" to Qualudes, I was not sure how old you are, it's hard to tell by your profile pic!!! By the way I LOVE THAT PICTURE!! Have fun packrat, I'm so proud ofyour Grandson, jiminy christmas, that knife could be Civil War,(well, I'm not sure where your at), or older. I have a soft spot for metalurgy and all things and contraptions made of metal.
Thank you very much for the nice comments and for visiting michelleamieux
