This chair belongs to a client who brought it out of his attic. He wanted to know if it can be renovated. Well, sure it can be, but before I tear into it I want to know what it is and, more importantly, what I should NOT do to it.
The wood appears to be some variant of mahogany. It shows signs of being hand made and is unusual for the paw feet on the front legs. The front legs are different from one another in width, which is another thing that says handmade.
There's no marks or tags on it. I think it must have been heavily upholstered at one time with springs in the seat.
I'd be grateful if someone can identify it.
