I bought this 110 year old house with the intention of keeping the exterior scalloped cedar siding. I really liked the original details .After twenty years I realized I couldn't keep up with the painting and had to have vinyl siding installed.

We installed a wrap around porch on our house and had the same issue with the boards. Paint and deterioration make for a lot of work! As pieces need to be replaced were are switching them out with those plastic planks. It's a little sad to see it go, but it is one less thing to worry about.

Did you at least get the scalloped vinyl siding? We added a little of that on our house when we remodeled.

Beautiful house, by the way. The panoramic windows in the tower are neat.

I'll have to take some pics of the house with the new siding. We skipped the scallops to help keep the price reasonable.
