Can any one give me any information on this bracelet? I found this at my first estate sale. I paid $5 for it, at the time I knew nothing about Ivory still really do not. Matter fact did not know this was even Ivory. Just wanted to see if someone could guide me in the direction on how to find value on it.
Thanks,
Misty
I suppose if you looked into how bone/ivory ages, you might become a little more comfortable dating it. It looks handcrafted, the clear gem could be a number of different things. Looks like it would be silver, there are simple tests you can do to confirm that. Really cool piece!
Looks Indian. Could be bone. Good looking piece.
Thanks!! I'll do a litte bit more recearching and see what I find.
Thanks,
Misty

Awesome!! Thanks again for your help
I know it has been a while since you first posted about your bracelet. I found one, in a junk shop, that is very similar. I believe the original stone in yours was replaced. The silver on mine is ornate and the stone is lapis. It is heavily stained on the inside with what I assume is body oil..from many years of wear. The markings on the band appear very similar with the exception that mine is solid on the inside and carved into two bands on the outside. Have you obtained any additional information about your bracelet? Where is might have been made? Did you confirm that it is ivory? Thank you. I love my bracelet and I do believe yours must be similar in origin.
I wish I sw this post sooner. I own one, it has jasper in the middle stone.. This is a dowery bracelet. Ivory is usually assembled vertically, the first sign, is looking at the inner part of the bracelet, it should have a vertical grain. Also it should have the look of being stacked with thin layers. the ornate carvings can mean meny things. the thing to do is, heat up a pin and when it is hot enough push it into the bracelet, in a area that is unnoticable, and if it smells like burnt hair, it is most likely ivory.I found this site by googling dowery braacelets. I am not sure about that stone, it usually isnt something found on a dowery, but get it checked. any jewelry store could test to see if it is a dianomd, which in any case would make it VERY valuable.
