I was debating weather or not to post these. After all, it is morbid, and these ARE dead US Navy Pilots. The Photos came from N.A.S. Pensacola (in Florida), and are period WWII era photos. They DO have the names of the dead Aviators on the back of the photos. I have decided to block out just the last name to protect the family, but leaving the rank and first two initials.
I have added a photo of the type of air plane they were flying. It was an SJN-4 "TEXAN" trainer......
NAS Pensacola is located in the panhandle of Northwest Florida. The installation covers a total of 8,423 acres of land - 5,804 acres at NAS Pensacola proper, and over 2,500 acres at other locations.
NAS Pensacola was the first Naval Air Station commissioned by the U.S. Navy in 1914. Tens of thousands Naval Aviators have received their training there including John H. Glenn, USMC who became the first American to orbit the earth in 1962 and Neil Armstrong who became the first man to set foot on the moon in 1969.
I was stationed there in 1991, and I loved all the history the place had. I do apologize in advance if I offended anyone with these photos....
