This is my 15ct rose gold ruby and diamond ring! Simple and small, it is pretty thin, so I rarely wear it. 2 original mine cut diamonds in the middle and on one side, looks like one ruby was replaced a long time ago (rose cut ruby) and the other ruby and diamond were replaced more recently.
The hallmarks on it start with a 15, then a .625, then the Birmingham anchor symbol followed by a lower case simplistic 'f'. The online hallmark wizard says it is assayed in 1803, but some other reference books I've looked at show a similar 'f' used in 1905. The makers mark is faded quite a bit, it could be a D & H or B & H.
If anyone has any ideas on the makers mark or a better guess at the date, I appreciate any knowledge given!

By the design, I would think it to be older than 1905, I think the design and thinness you speak of are more reminiscent of a late Victorian, I'd go with the 1803 date. That is my fact free opinion, of course!!Mich It is a delicate and beautiful treasure.
Thank you, Michelle! the hallmarks help a bit, but they rarely get me an exact 'breathe easy' answer without knowing the makers mark for sure. I neglected to mention that from what I've heard/read, 15ct was only used from mid 1800's to early 1900's, but the original diamonds in the piece suggest it is much older! they had to at least have had single cut diamonds in 1905.
Well, it's hard to believe 1905 was over a century ago, somehow I got stuck in the seventies. It is a beautiful ring, I don't know why I feel it is of an earlier date. It reminds me of my elderly relatives great grandmothers rings, from the 1800's, and they were similar to this. You are right, new diamond replacements might confuse things, but if what you say about 15 ct. is true...I have never even heard of a 15ct. Very interesting learning from you! Thank you, Mich
