Railroad Signal Lantern. Has 2 red lens and 1 amber. Too bad someone painted it red. Marked Supreme SSEB. Don't know what SSEB means. Thanks

i also have one of these and thought it was a railroad lantern,but after some research a museum emailed me and said its a traffic lantern. the hook was used to hang over road blocks to signal oncoming traffic. mainly used in england. still its wonderful.
thanks hastingsj for the info. i had no idea & because of no RR to tie it to your info makes sense. always good to here from fellow collectors. like to see yours, is it posted?
i havent posted my lantern pictures yet. i guess im too lazy to take a picture. im glad the info helped because i researched a long time before i finally received a answer. if i ever run across the web site again, i will send it to you.
i found the name. its called a chalwyn highway oil lantern.
