I love this small ivory painting of a young girl. On the back it reads Virginia Irving Burkhardt 9 years 5 months May 1905.The painting is 5"X 4 1/2". It sits inside a gold frame. The painting is of no one in our family . My mother who was an RN worked for her for 12 years an inherited 99 percent of the estate. One day Virginia told me a story about her late father who was a Furrier by trade from the middle 1800's to early 1900's. He would travel the world looking for fur, silks etc. He met a man in Russia by the name of Carl Faberge whom was a jeweler and bought a spoon which was unlike any spoon ever made jewels were on the handle, spoon was made of platinum and yellow gold. Was a very great peace of art. Virginia in 1947 had it melted down for something. Sad we lost a peace of art of Carl Faberge.
