On the left is an eastern water dragon on a rock with gum and common heath. On the right a goanna on a rock with wattle, Christmas bell and native flowers.

    Two watercolours signed M.Davidson.

Marion and Margaret Davidson were born in Indonesia. Marion and Margaret Davidson did their art training in Holland. Their father was Alister Thomas Davidson (1889-1966), a long-term and senior officer of the famous Burns Philp Company.

They were photographers as well and donated thousands of photos to create the Davidson Collection of historic photographs taken in the 1950's in and around Sydney Harbour that are now part of the Sydney Heritage Fleet's "Davidson Collection". It is a collection of about 4000 maritime photographs, taken by the twin daughters of Alister Davidsonin memory of their father. Some of these photos can be seen at: www.shf.org.au/DavidsonFiles/DavMaster.html.

Hi AmberRose. It flows off the tongue a little bit easier than Physiganthus lesueurii lesueurii, The specific name lesueurii honours the French naturalist Charles-Alexandre Lesueur (1778-1846) who collected this species on the Baudin expedition of 1800.
