I am a picker but have a limited knowledge of jewelry. Please help me identify these rings I have inherited from my fathers estate. This ring was given to my father in the 1930's from his father for his 18th b-day as the legend was told to my oldest sister. The ring is marked 14k and is signed Racco the stone looks to be tigers eye and there are two faces carved into the stone. The stone measures over 1 1/2 inches. This is a huge ring. My questions are, any one ever heard of Racco? Is this style still collectible? Does this ring have a value above and beyond its scrap value?

Thanks to any and all information.

If you Google Racco jewelery you will get lots of hits. Mostly at places like Ruby Lane that are fancy and over priced. Lots of it for sale but not much marked sold.

I have had the same results looking around. One person says it may be HACCO. it is possible, but still nothing coming up. Thanks.

Yes it does bring up cracco and also Rocco which is a pain. I had to keep changing the search string to find it.

Tiger's eye has always been my favorite stone. Your Dad must have been a man of impeccable taste. It reminds me of a gift brought to me by a friend from China. It is tiger's eye Jade. A perfect 1.5 inch ball. i will post it. Love this ring and that it was your Pop's. That makes it all the more rich. Mich

This may or may not help, but I too have a ring similar to yours given to me by my Pop and have met another man with one very much like yours. What I know from my personal experience and the shared experience of the other owner of the same ring. We discovered through shared stories that our fathers had served in WWII and spent some of that time in Eastern France along the German border toward the end of the that war. Many of the men serving bought these rings and brought them home. They were originally made of 18k gold that wore out over time. We believe the profiles to be of either French knights or Templars. Though it is possible that your ring is from a later time frame I would be interested in knowing if your father served in France in WWII. My ring is a single profile the other I have seen was a double profile. Hope this helps

Thanks for the response, my father was not in France during the war. Served mostly in Asia on Liberty ships. I have discovered from another thread that these rings were quite popular from the late forties through the sixties and were quite common in most jewelry stores. They do sell above and beyond the scrap value, although for now we will just hold on to pops' ring.

      Thanks for all the comments.

How about Macco, jeweller, Jacksonville, Florida?
M,H & R can all be confused on small stamped items, I think.
