This watch belonged to my Great-Grandfather and passed down now to me. I am trying to find out what model this is and any other info that will help me figure out if I want to have it restored. What I know is that it is an automatic, 17 Jewel movement, and serial number is 8266036 (my search shows that this watch might be circa 1950). Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Additional info: Inside the watch, on the movement, there is stamped the following: "Longines", below that "17 Jewel" and below that "8266036". Stamped inside the rear cover of the watch is the following: Above the center stamp, "ACIFR INOX" (or it might be "INDX"). Below the center stamp, "6230 4" and below that "319". Lastly, there are some very faint numbers engraved at the top of the center circle, but I cannot make them out (guess I need better glasses! LOL!). Thanks again! :-)

It's a little rough, but the styling is early to mid 60's, My guess is that it's got a 30L movement, if so it can be visable on the bridge of the movement I'll see if I can pinpoint the date for you. Longines is a super watch and always a number 1 in wristwatches.

Ok as close as I can find would be late 1940's to very early 1950. Sorry I didn't read the description in full, you said it's and automatic Please post picture of the movement and the grade type please, and I'll see if I can get you anymore info.

Thank you Kerry! I have posted the additional pictures you requested and have done my best to provide the other info. I did want to mention that the band currently on the watch is not the original band. My father replaced it. Also, while I believe that this watch is Stainless Steel, there is an interesting stamp inside the center circle below the Longines insignia on the inside of the back cover. I did my best to make this visible in the pics, but sadly, my camera just could not focus any closer. Thanks again for your help! :-)

Ok this helps, First it is a manual wind, not an automatic. The movement grade is a 12.68Z. The case is stainless steel. These are a good quality watch and hold a fair value. The band is nadda like you say, it hinders the value, would be better off, than on, sorry . I'm going to ball-park this watch(in this condition) approx $100-125. Hope this info helps you make a desision restoring this piece. Again thanks for sharing

Thank you again, Kerry. I will probably take the watch into a local jeweler and find out what it will cost to clean the watch. I would like to keep it in the family, and clearly, it needs a little TLC :-) Any idea what model this watch is? Did they even put model names on these watches?
