This is a crazy big (36 3/4" to top of shade!) Fortune Company Lamp from 1959. All I can find out is that they were not around for long and they weren't very big. I have seen some from 1960 to 1967, but no other ones from 1959. Does anyone have any more info about the company or the lamp?
I found a little info.
"Fortune lamps were not a well known company in the 1960's and never became mainstream. What's interesting about there lamps is they are really nice pieces of art work that are just starting to become collectable depending on which lamp you have dictates the value. Most of these lamps sell for between $100 to $400 but some have went as high as $1600. These lamps were 1st made in the late 1950's"
Hope this helps a little.
Thanks packrat... I actually found that same info, but that's all I can find. Frustrating, but it keeps my brain moving. Thanks again for your time
I could not find any info about the company itself either.
I am retired, so I have plenty of time to sit and research items, when I am not out picken'.
I went to the library today. The help desk couldn't even help!
Hi...I have the same lamp with shade. I picked it up in a thrift store in Chicago. It is quite a conversation piece. I am happy to learn about it..and happier to see the exact lamp. Still trying to find more information on it.
