    This big metal train was my grandfather's toy. he says it used to work well, and he played with it regularly. I have no idea the worth of this item, saying that it does include at least half a dozen cars, in this condition. I have no way of knowing how to make it work better, for it grinds down the tracks and stops a lot. please tell me anything you can about this.

      Try cleaning the top of the track surface with 0000 steel wool. That's 4 zero's, it's the grade of steel wool

      Very cool! I don't really collect trains, but the early stuff like this gets me excited all the same.

      I'd love to see the rest of the cars sometime. Thanks for showing it,

      Steel wool was the way to go years ago, but now days I would use a Scotch Brite pad instead. Steel wool will leave small bits of the steel in the track wich can get picked up in the motor etc and cause a short.
