This is my oldest piece of electromedical "quack" devices and likely the most valuable. It is a Davis and Kidders Magnetic Electric Machine. It was used to treat "nervous disorders" LOL. It is dated to 1850s/60s. There is a bone handle that screws into place and this handle turns the magneto creating electrical current flow. The electrodes plug into the sides of the machine. After taking these pictures I realize I need to clean this piece up, pictures dont do it justice. The Brass gearing is awesome and it turns really well after all these years. The box is a beautiful mahogoney with brass. Looks like I need to put a little elbow grease into this one. I will add a youtube video of this in action that I have link to.

This electrical hand crank magneto used by Davis & Kiddlers was the forerunner that inspired Thomas Watson's design for the telephone generator used in the 1879 telephones.
