This ring is 800 sterling, and pietra dura, from what I have found in checking similar items online. I am not sure whether it is from Florence or elsewhere or how old it is. Any information about this ring would be welcome.
Indeed Pietra Dura, probably Florance. The 800 sterling was often used in Italy as well in other European countries. Very nice piece, I love it!
Do you have any idea how old it might be or what its replacement value for insurance purposes?
I'll think Victorian and for the value I think around $ 150/$200. But you can also look on eBaycom or RubyLane.com what trade asks for such a jewel.
Great ring. I believe it is a piece of Victorian 'mourning' jewelry. The bird signifies the soul about to take flight into Heaven. I have seen another like it some years ago and that was the explanation given by a collector of mourning jewelry. Value could exceed $300+ for the right collector. Happy collecting!
