110 mi from home in a small Tx town in a shop that just makes you itch, you know you been there. In a corner were these whistles. Lady said they came from a town probably never heard of. It was where I lived. Whistles were on cotton gin that were torn down in the 60's before I moved there. Husband brought them form New Orleans from a ship he worked on. When gin closed they moved to Calif. then back to Tx. He would never sell them. He had now passed and she would sell. With fleas biting my ankles I carried them to the car. Most in town had left but an older gent said the whistle story was true and he had worked there. Have never had enough air pressure to blow them but he said were awsome with 2 tones as evidenced by the two sizes.Whistles like these were used on ships and trains. Enjoy
Nice set of whistles. The Powell looks like they removed the valve when they mounted it on the pipe. If you have a big enough tank on a compressor they should sound nice.
Isn't the 3rd pic the valve?
Thanks packrat,scotts and rocker
