I just acquired this phone from my father. I am trying to identify and specifics ie..It looks like it was converted, should I try to restore back to the original ear and mouth piece, was it typical to convert these phones at some point, On the inside it was last inspected in November of 1929. Any help would be great!

Your kellogg Switchboard & Supply Co. wall telephone was first maunfactured in 1927 with the original hardware. In 1928 Kellogg Company offered a Masterphone conversion kit to the local telephone companies so they could install the newer handset on older wall telephone. Your conversion kit was #7 it had a new handset lever that fit over the hookswitch and a black enameled plate to cover the opening left by the removal of the old transmitter arm. later on a conversion kit was offered to add a dial to the upper part of the writing shelf.
