This Hohner Comet is actually all plastic. I heard rumors that the red strip of plastic around the back is bakelite but have not come to that conclusion from the bakelite smell test and have found no confirmation online. I am struggling to date it. I'm guessing 40's or 50's.
In one of my Hohner books it has a photo of this harmonica as a "new"product in 1957.
