Recent attic pick. This phone was being used and converted to the four prong jack when the new phone lines were installed. They made a special wooden box and packed it away in the attic. Even has the knob insulator!!
It's a Western Electric 323-W candlestick with ringer box and satellite ringer. I had the sat. ringer box already, but until I got the phone set-up, I didn't know how it was used.
Your combination Western Electric 40AL desk stand and a 315 desk set box was used around 1912. the line cord would have been hard wired to a wall jack in 1912. The four prong jack was added later on to your line cord. Nice find.
TAL ttomtucker, you really know your phones. Been thinking about ebaying it. What do you think on value? Thanks for id'ing my other ringer box too.
There are too many Western Electric candlesticks on Ebay. One candlestick like your with bell box sold for $99.00. What I have seen lately is that the sellers are breaking up the candlesticks and selling as a parts phone.
Thanks ttomtucker, I've been noticing a lot of parts and parts phones like mine. I paid too much for this one. I'll take it to the next antique show and try and recoup my $$$. What do you think on the Kellogs cut-in box as far as value?
