Probably the most amazing find we've ever made from the Goodwill bins (by the pound). Two doctor's bags from around 1910 with all of the contents still in them! Included: 1900 straight-razor, apothecary kits (with the meds still in them), car registration and train ticket from 1923, antique Willsonite folding sunglasses, and a few other trinkets.

I'm not completely sure this is legal for me to own!

    Gotta love the bins.

Couldn't really find the right category to place this under... sorry.

This is a really neat find. I remember Doc Harwood having a bag like that. Everything he needed for making his rounds of house calls. You could actually afford a Dr. visit back then because one man did it all and he came to you. No getting a dozen tests and seeing a dozen specialists. Did people live as long????? I grew up with both grandparents and great grandparents so something worked. Although I do admit they all died between the ages of 83 and 101.

WOW! There is no way I could ever find such wonderful items in a Goodwill bin here in New York City. They are really beautiful and if they could speak, would probably have amazing stories to tell. Great find! Curious to know what you paid for them?

I agree, you won't find that type of thing here in South Dakota Goodwill's either. Was this a recent find? It seems all the good antiques and collectible are being pulled and put on the shopgoodwill.com auction web site. Needless to say, I don't shop the goodwill here much anymore.

The Goodwill "bins" is where they dump all the unsold and overstock items and sell them by the pound. They quite often, when they have received and overload of donations, dump the stuff into the bins straight from the bags without going through anything. This doctor bag set up maybe weighed 5 pounds, so the total cost would have been about $4.45!
