Argus was founded in Ann Arbor, MI and their cameras were in production from 1936 to 1969. My research has led to the conclusion that this is an Argus C3. The serial number, 1092299, is that of one produced in 1939.

I have my dad's color slides he took in Korea in 1951 with an Argus C3 camera. They are the sharpest & most vivid color I have ever seen from an old camera. I have scanned them & put them on CD.

I have three Argus cameras including the C3. They were sturdy and were great point and shoot cameras of their time. They were also great for taking double exposures because the shutter could be recocked without advancing the film.

Awesome! They are well built cameras, no doubt.
