I'm looking for the story behind this item. This is a 5-gallon Coca Cola syrup bottle. Given the 'things go better with Coke' slogan on the lable, I'm guessing it's from the early to mid 1960's. It is in a nice wooden crate with a brass Coca Cola plate attached.

While the 1-gallon syrup bottles seem fairly common, I have yet to see mention of this 5-gallon one anywhere. I would really appreciate knowing a bit more about this item.

I don't know much about this coke jug. But it is authentic. I recently came across this excact same piece thats in these pics for sale in a local antique shop. But the seller wants alot more than its worth. It is from the 60's. I was told by a reliable source that it should go from 100 to 150$.

The jug looks good, but the crate and especially the brass plate looks like a hokey, modern creation (with an older crate).

I am not a coke collector, so give some of them a chance to chime in!

Well after more research the reliable source it seems has the wrong info on this piece. Better sources now tell me it is a fake. Coke never put their syrup in 5 gallons jugs. The label is actually a 1 gal label with the top part cut off that read 1 gallon. If you look at most 1 gal labels you will see this. The coke plate on the crate must have came from something else. The jug is a carboy water jug. I learn more every day I am alive.

I saw one very similar in Wisconsin about 15 years ago so they've been floating around for awhile.

This one is now in Michigan. Detroit metro area.

Definitely not a 1960s crate. Brass plates like that would of never been used like that. If the label dosen't say 5 gallon on it, whos to prove that it isn't a 1 gallon label pasted on a generic glass 5 gallon jug?

Yes I agree, not an authentic Coca-Cola piece.
