Hi, can someone out there possible tell me what make and model this antique clock is. I have taken the glass door and face off as it is need of repair. Was told by an antque clock repair person it is from the 1870's with some nice inlay, but needs repair to a pinion and some wiring. Was also told the repair would cost $625 and would take 8 months due to his many repairs he has to do before mine. If anyone can tell me the make and apprx value to see if it is worth repairing, I would be grateful. Thanks

A beautiful case. I've never seen the model before and wouldn't know where to start looking. Was there any information on the dial or anywhere on the clock? Didn't the clock professional have any idea what clock he or she was giving you a quote on? How did they know it was from 1870's?

That case style is called an "English Drop". I did find a clock that is very similar to yours which sold for $50 in January of 2010.

That's all I could find but I don't have a lot of reference materials on hanging clocks.

It's a beautiful clock. Sounds like it needs serious attention though. If you want to get some additional service estimates try looking here:

      Hope that helps you.

      Good luck,
