Theses are some coca cola signs I got a while back. The one might be a reproduction. The one that has a yellow circle around the bottle it says its from 1946 and is made of masonite but i think its a reproduction. It is 20" by 28". The other sign is from 1951 is in rough condition and is 56" by 32".

I believe it to be all original! Very cool signs in nice shape y3k65!!
Do you mind me asking what you gave for them?

The reason I think the one is a reproduction is because it looks like the one on page 608 of Petretti's guide 12th edition. I'm not sure of the exact price but it was under $350 for the pair of them. Thanks Spriteboy42

im not 100% sure but i think the one in pic one might be a repo. if you check pg 203 in petrett's 12 edition, it shows the original with trade mark in tail of first c, im pretty sure in 1946 the trade mark should still be in the tail of first c. yours is not it looks more similar to the repo on page 608 like you said, but agian im not 100% sure wait for earlycoke or TGBWC to confirm.

Yea, I noticed that on page 203 it has the trademark in the tail and thats what makes me think its a repo. Then when you look on page 39 about the trademark from 1930-1941 they had the trademark in the tail of the C and in 1941-1961 it was under the logo. Thats why I'm not sure if it is original or not. But like you said it really does look like the one on page 608. I got the sign before i had Petretti's guide, so I had no idea what to look for. Thanks for your insight on the sign Trevor!!!

I never noticed the logo info on page 39, thanks for pointing that out, now im really not sure if thats a repo or not because they did make both tin and masonite of this sign and it would not surprise me if they did make this sign from 1940-1946. i think TGBWC might know.

Well I can tell you this, I have the same sign as in your left shot and it's more than likely a repro based on the Petretti book. at the back as you mention, it shows that these were made again in the 80s. By 1946, there would not be a trade mark in the long "C" anyway. That ended in 40 or 41' so the trade mark is placed right.

They actually put 1946 on a repro?!? thats bad! if they did.
    8. y3k65 y3k65, 13 years ago
Well it does not say "1946" but it does say AM 9-46 which i just thought that means September 1946. Thanks for your insight on the sign Signaholic.

Yes they did Ed, I use to have this very sign. They were reproduced in the 80s and yes, they used the original dating stamp. So if it's a masonite sign like the one on the left, steer clear. More often than not, it's a reproduction sign.

I noticed that the sign in Petretti's guide 12th edition shows the the bottle in the first sign with no white lettering on the bottle. So are the ones with white lettering on them reproductions or not?

What page are you looking at?
    12. Signaholic Signaholic, 12 years ago
Here's the one I use to have that I think was a reproduction from the 80s.

      There we go.

I think it is on page 203 the repo pic is on 608. Yea after I got Petretti's guide I figured it was a repo. It looks exactly like the one in ur pic so it probably is a repo then. So are the signs with the bottle with white lettering are they repos. Seeing Petretti's guide shows these type of signs with no white lettering.

Actually on the original signs, the bottle has much greater detail and there was very little gray used other than the lower portion of the bottle, none on the logo at all. That's the difference.

Okay thats what I was wondering. Now I know what to look for in the sign to tell if its a repo or not. Thanks for the info Signaholic!
