Every once in awhile, I find some really cool items stuck inside boxes and box lots I win at auctions and this is one of those times. I really loved the hat when I first saw it, then upon examination I found the picture inside it. I am not familiar with military items and would love to know if anyone can tell which war and branch of service this hat came from Thanks!
WW2 ARMY enlisted mans cap.

Thank you for your help! Celia
Scott, as usual, is correct about the cap. I can also tell you the tank in the picture is an M24 Chaffee, which wasn't produced till 1944, so the photo would have been late WWII or afterwards. I wonder if this might also have been Korea. What do you think, Scott?
I think your right Chris. I didn't look too closely at the photograph at first, but now looking at it, they look more like Korean War era than WW2.

By the way, I love the casual feel of the photo, with it's extra "crew." Feminine fashion might help pin down the date of the picture - the padded shoulders and skirt length - stuff I know nothing about. It looks like the front of the tank has "4CR" on the front, which might be for 4th Cavalry Regiment. No idea about "ZCA" or where the 4th Cav went after it left Europe.
It's amazing you all can pin-point the time and almost the place with that little bit of information! I will try and take a picture of the photo so it will post clearer and thanks again for all the info and ideas!
Looking at the construction- the band is not wool like the top. I agree this is most like a Korean war era hat. It is too bad that it is missing the strap and maker's label. I would really suggest a hat-jack to preserve the shape
I love it when you guys talk military...
