My newest auction find. It is so lovely I just had to share with everyone. It is Florenza Maltese Cross and has absolutely spectacular colors. The open backed Arrow corner stones change color in the light. The center is an inverse Cameo carving.

intaglio carving done in what looks like carnelian. Stunning piece of jewelry!! It doesn't look like it much from the picture, but I see the faux alexandrite in antiques a lot, otherwise maybe just another pleochroic stone, peridot or zircon maybe? Love it!!

It was featured in the book Signed Beauties of Costume Jewelry (2001 volume) under Florenza with a 2006 value at $235. I paid under 50 for it and actually just sold it for a handy profit. Just thought it was a very unusual piece and had to share its beauty with everyone.
