This lamp was inherited by me from my late mother, I believe she bought it in the early 70's at a antique dealer/auction? it stands 42" from base to chimney, has two cherubs wrapped together as the base. the oil burner has duplex made in england stamped on it. I looked up and found its a double wick with snuffer. glass or crystal reflectors? not sure what they are called, but they hang around the bottom of the shade. I need some help figuring out just what this is and how old it is. I have tried for hours on end to find another one like this, to determine its value for my insurance, but as of right now I have not come across anything close to it. ideas anyone? This is a fantastic lamp, I love it, just wish I had more info on it.
    thanks

I have the identical lamp, except that it is the hanging model. My mother also purchased it in the '60s or '70s, and told me it was very expensive. She is now deceased. Did you discover anything on your model? I see one identical to yours on sale on Ebay for $59,500.00 asking price, though it is for sale by a seller who sells many different types of items, not specializing in lamps/antiques, thus the price may not reflect genuine rarity.

Did you ever learn more about your lamp? I have one very similar to this and would like to know more about it.

      Thank you,

These were new in the early 70's. some are marked with dates such as 72 some are not. Several manufacturers made lamps such as y0urs.

I have one almost exactly like that . Mine has a marble post instead of a figurine... and i am missing a glass Crystal , but its complete.. and it wasn't built in the 70's because all those was electric too mimic the original oil burning lamps ... maybe 40's or late 30's ..

I just bought 2 John Scott cherub lamps at an antique shop, they are almost identical to yours.I don't think they knew much about them when they sold them to me and l don't know much about them myself but l checked the lamp shades and they are actually crystal, so if anybody has any information about them l would also be interested to know about them.
