I have one of these identical to the one in the picture but the fuel tank is circular, it is in good condition with original red paint and decals, it doesn't have the large wheel mounted sprocket. I haven't tried to get it running. I think it might be of interest to a honda enthusiast as it appears to be one of their earlier products. I would like to know how much its is worth.

      Hi,
I collect early Japanese motorcycles (1909-1959 mostly) and have two of the Honda CUB F engines.
They were introduced in 1951 and were sold in Japan for many years after that. I do not believe that they were ever marketed here in the US.

Prices vary on these. I can find them in Japan with some regularity but like anything else the value is determined by what the seller will settle for and what the buyer is comfortable with . There are two complete bicycles with CUB engines on sites in Japan as of yesterday. As a good example of pricing, one is for sale for 899,000 yen or around $12,000 and the other is for sale for 189,000 yen or $2500. Of course this does not count getting it through customs both in Japan and here in the US, or shipping. Both bikes look to be in about the same general used and unrestored condition. I think the lower price is just about correct for a bike (needing a lot of restoration) and the motor.

The flat bottom tank is the later style, the round is the early style. If you send me the engine serial number I can tell you more (located on the top of the engine by the seam between the red cover and engine case, just to the right of the top mounting casting).

Hello Allen , My name is ian Ross and I am the person who bought the previously advertised HONDA Cub FM . The engine was in not too bad condition . Apart from the engine being seized in the piston and cylinder . My question is do you know of any source where I can buy a set of piston rings . There are none available here in the UK . Do you know of any source for these ring in the USA . Kind Regards Ian Ross
