Although I'm selling my collection of tube radios, I think I can find room to keep just one... and it doesn't even work. It's a farm radio, designed to run on big batteries when most rural areas weren't yet hooked up to the power grid. I have ones that are more deco, or have fancier dials or multiple bands and lots more tubes, but there's something about this very basic set that for me evokes a whole era that is now long gone. You can almost hear WLS Radio's "National Barn Dance" show just looking at it.

I also have a special interest in farm radios. I've restored quite a few but haven't kept one. With straight DC power, there is no hum, no noise, just pure signal. Most, by design, are very sensitive. Guess I need to find me a keeper too!
