    I think that is what this is. If you have more info I would love to find out. It is about 8"x 10" and about 6 inches deep. The dial is made of bakelite.

      That's a Philco Mystery Control, a wireless remote that was available with around a dozen Philco radio models from 1939-1942. Useless without the radio, of course. For more info, see http://www.philcorepairbench.com/mystery/index.htm .
