I recently purchased this item on e-bay and I am on the quest to find more information about this Plaque. It is 6 1\2 inch X 7 3\8 inch in size and is 24K gold Plated. It has an inscription at the bottom that it is Specific Plating Mar.1 1973.

I was told by the seller that it was donated to her Grandfather some 39 years ago by NASA in mountain view California.

I would like to know more information about this Plaque like the origins and for what occasion and also how many were produced?

If there is anybody that can help me out I would greatly appreciate it.

I appreciate your comments and yes I did a lot of research about the lunar plaques in particular the Apollo 11 mission. It seems that it is going to be an unsolved mystery as it seems that nobody has seen like this particular plaque.

It is a beautiful Plaque and in very good condition considering it's age. I think it was a unique Plaque which might have been made as a sample and then donated to a particular person.

I really wish that I will find more information but I think it is going to be very difficult, if there is anybody else with more information please post.

Thanks Phil for your comments, I am an active member of collectSPACE and have posted it on this site but unfortunately till now nobody has ever seen like this plaque.

It is an unfortunate thing that it is going to be very difficult to trace it's origins as it is such a beautiful plaque. I have even contacted NASA in mountain view California but till know I did not get any reply.

I have even researched for a company with the name Specific Plating but this company was formed in the year 2000 so it is much later than the date of this plaque dated at 1st March 1973.

I have my fingers crossed so maybe somebody can shed some light on this plaque.

That is very nice of you Phil, it would be great if you can manage to solve the mystery of my Plaque.

Well Phil, you are surely a very helpful person. These links that you have sent me are really interesting. To be honest I am not looking for any monetary value for this Plaque. The ones on the links you sent me are beautiful with some of them being signed by famous astronauts but unfortunately none of them seem to fit the description like the one I own.

I have sent an e-mail to the lady I bought it from as it seems that she is the only person that can shed more light on this particular Plaque. I will post more details whenever I get more information.

Thanks Phil for showing such an interest.

Unfortunately I received a reply from the lady, she told me that her grandfather had passed away.

This is going to be more difficult to solve than I thought. I guess the only option I have till now is to frame it safely and enjoy it on my wall.

I will still keep looking and waiting maybe somebody out there will solve the origins of this beautiful Apollo 11 Lunar Plaque.
