My Mother bought this piece back in the early 1970's. At that time it was worth about $500.00. It is also called a " break- Front". The back part with the mirrir on it comes off for transportation. The mirror has a beveled glass and is the original. It has 2 drawers on the top and one bigger one under those and 2 doors that open on the bottom. It is a very solid piece of history. Any information on this would be appreciated.
Thanks!
Golden Oak period, 1880-1920. You would have found these in all the Mail Oder Catalogs like Sear, Montgomery Wards, ect. Also called sideboard or buffet.
very nice piece
I have a piece similar to this one with many differences. Mine does not have the top crowned piece. The beveled mirror is square. I can not tell from the photo but does your piece have pegged, square, claw, or round feet? Mine has claw feet in the front with brass knobs and handles. I am also looking for more info on my piece. The detailing on mine is different as well. The front is more curved out and tapered back in and less square than the one shown here.
