This small Afghan piece is 12" X 10" and was made for using underneath a telephone.
It was made in the 1980s and carries the typical Soviet Invasion motifs of an AK, grenade and helicopter.
I would imagine most weavers have adapted to US/ NATO weapons now.
Along with this, I also bought several woven drink coasters with a grenade on them. I am not sure where they are, but I will post one when I find them.

I have a runner carpet that I bought in 1990 that is covered planes, tanks, guns etc.. I never thought about it as a collectible, I just though, cool. I should photograph it for this too.
Pls add it decanters! These are very collectible. They were uncommon in the US, but our recent wars have made them a popular soldier souvenir item.
