I have several of these Stoner Corporation trench art lighters in a variety of colors.

I felt lucky to obtain one in the original box. It hasn't been assembled and is in excellent condition with the original packing materials. The assembly instruction sheet has deteriorated over the years, but it is stable now.

This is a good "entry level" piece for the new trench art collector as it is easy to find and most examples are reasonably priced.

    Thanks for looking,

    Scott

I hope that I didn't mislead you-- the NO BOX versions are readily available and reasonable!

I always thought the "commercial" trench are was funny, but still neat I suppose. The best part is that it is all still together!

Many of the WW1 era vases that are assumed by collectors to be made by soldiers were actually made commercially in the post war years. There are production catalogs where a buyer can pick out the symbolism and order a shell! The famous WW1 "Peace Lamps" are a great example as well.

I too would put this on the low end due to the lack of any hand work.

The variety of colors on these make them a great late 40s- 50s accessory item that looks great with a similar era chrome dinette.

I suppose any way they could get a price over scrap was a good deal. Can't say I blame them.

Sadly, WW1 era shells found their way to the scrap yard during WW2 as a patriotic show of support for the war!
